Hi, Master 2ers! How's it goin'? How was the holiday? Anything interesting? Mine was pretty low-key.
Well, as promised, here's our first assignment: I'd like each and every one of you to tell me how you've practiced your English outside the classroom. Has it proven to be effective? Do you feel your English has been improving because of this out-of-the-classroom practice? Why do you say so? What else would you recommend to someone who's willing to improve their English language skills? If there are some interesting sites for those who study English, I'd like to know what they are. Our BLOG has the very spot for that!
Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to seeing your postings.
Alex
Hello there everybody ! My first post on our BLOG , I'm feeling a bit nervous ...
ReplyDeleteAnyway , I practice English everyday at my very own house . My sister and I are american , my parents lived in the USA for 17 years and my mom teaches English classes . So , speaking English is almost a must at my house . I always think what does our neighbours think about us . We spend most part of the day talking in English , and we do it so naturally , the must think that we are crazy or something like that . Why are these freaks talking in English ?!?!?! They live in Brazil !!
Well, my advice for someone who wants to improve their English is to practice. As simple as that . Watch films in English with English subtitles , talk to relatives in English . There are so many ways of practising it . I have to say that each and every day that goes by , I feel my English improving , my acscent getting better and my vocabulary expanding .
Well , that's pretty much it . See you next time guys .
Hey everyone !
ReplyDeleteWell, I practice my english everytime that I talk to my host family or friends in the US. I spent couple months as an exchange student in TX, that's how I improved my English.
As Bernardo said, my advice for people who wants to improve their English is to practice. Read books in English is one of the best ways. Because while you are reading, you are thinking in English, so helps your fluency.
A warning is to NEVER stop speaking, reading or listening to it. You can lose your vocabulary and grammar really quick.
That's all by now.. See you latter

ReplyDeleteHello!!
ReplyDeleteI practice my english in different ways, listening to different types of music each day, watching to TV shows, series or videos on youtube. Also, in school, we're suppose to read a book each trimester, although not everybody do this. I think all of this improve my english not only with vocabulary, but also with the right pronunciation of certain words.
My advice is to never stop talking and reading in English. Learning a new language requires great dedication and persistence, "no pain no gain" hahaha
That all folks! (:
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteI see people can't come up with many different stuff here... that't also my case.
Anyway, apart from watching TV series, trying to avoid subtiltles or use them in English, I like to read some articles about anything I like in English, that provides a lot of vocabulary.
During the first months of this year my brother's Swedish girlfriend was here and i had the oportunity to speak English all the time which was great. During that time I really felt my English improving, in conversations heard people using some words or expressions that later were really helpfull.
See you guys.
You're lucky, Bernardo / Nina, you guys have someone you can count on to practice your English with. What would recommend for those who don't have people to practice their speaking with?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Alex
Hi, Grandson.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that listening to music and watching TV are two great ways to improve your English. Besides, you learn while having tons of fun!
Thanks, buddy.
Alex
Thanks, Mateus, for sharing that with us. You know, I think watching movies with subtitles in English is a very good way to practice. If you really like a movie, you can watch it twice: the first time with the substitles in English and the second without any substitles at all. Try that and let me know how you felt.
ReplyDeleteBye now,
Alex
Hey guys!
ReplyDeleteWell, I pretty much agree with everything said so far.
My advice for those who want to practise their English skills is travelling to countries like the US and England, for example, if they have the chance, listening to English/American songs, checking the lyrics and reading the translation, watching movies with English subs and reading books in English!
That's really a lot of English! And just like Nina said, practicing is essential.
(I don't have any idea of good sites to share with you because I think most of these "easy learning sites" are quite boring and I apologise for that :/)
See ya,
Julia
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteJust like most of you I practice my English by reading some books or newspaper from Europe or U.S.... I would watch films in English with English subtitles months ago.But nowadays I watch almost every film in English without subtitles, even If I don't understand everything. When it happens I go back and watch it again. In the end, I can understand all the film and I realize that I've learned some new vocabulary!
Listen to music and make friends that speak English is also a great option to improve your
accent. Although reading and listen being very important, writing can't be forgotten! Try to listen some music and write them down, like we do in classes, is also very effective.
All this stuff are the key point of my English improvement. I can notice this pretty well when I watch new films or read any book just once and that is sufficient for me to comprehend.
And these are my advices for someone who wants to improve their English!
Good weekend everyone!
See ya!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteFrankly, it rarely when I speak english when I'm not at Cultura, but sometimes i talk with my sister in English, listen to music and watch some movies. I should talk more with friends that don't speak portuguese, I don't have native speakers friends but other that they can help me to improve and i can hemp them to.
